Vegas Baby YEAH!

“Spring break” typically conjures images of day drinking, clubbing, and tropical Cancun waters in people’s minds…. Well…. I just had the best spring break EVER. Only, it was in Vegas(!) and it was definitely NOT the spring break that many of my classmates had or the “Vegas” trip that most envisioned when I told them where I was going. In fact, I was just outside of Vegas in Henderson, NV shacking up with Team IE at Via Visari for a training camp!

Night swim anyone?

It was amazing to fully engross myself in triathlon - to eat, sleep, train, recover – even if for only 7 days. One sample day was:

DailySchedule

While I work very hard to create the time needed for all things triathlon with school (and prior to Booth, with work), it can be challenging (and exhausting) to fit everything in, particularly with the extra work I am doing right now to fix my hip alignment (more to come on that in another post!) – all you weekend warriors and developing elite athletes know what I mean! It also sometimes gets lonely doing my workouts alone, although I’ve gotten a few Boothies to join me for workouts and my schedule occasionally allows me to do workouts with folks at Mox – which has an awesome CompuTrainer set up! So living and training with the team was heavenly! Lastly, it was incredible to train OUTSIDE (in the sun!) for every session. I was soaking in every minute of the week. A couple highlights:

The last night of break, Adam and I treated ourselves to a night at the Strip – with Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental’s Mozen Bistro followed by Cirque du Soliel’s O (and, to my pleasant surprise, the fountain/lights show) at the Bellagio.

So close but so far! Navigating the strip was quite the experience!
